God Is ListeningFriday Matters-April 16, 2021
Everyday Listen Are you listening? Jesus is speaking. Hear His voice; “You are forgiven. Today is a new day. God’s Word from Lamentations 3:23: “Great is My mercy. It’s new every morning and great is My faithfulness. Everyday I try to “be better” by choosing what I should think on and how I should behave which often means I remain silent, shut my mouth and pray. Just think of the amazing gift God offers us! We have an opportunity to receive God’s forgiveness which means our soiled sin rags are washed and made white by the blood of the Lamb.” (Revelation 7:14) Don’t be discouraged. There’s a whole lot of us who so wanted to be faithful, but who at times got defeated, beat-up by life and tested by trials. We have the bloodied garments of life’s tribulations, but through it all we clung to the faith. This is the Gospel of Grace. Receive and share this love and grace with others. Carry on Christian Soldiers, onward and upward…everyday. 4/15/2021
Your Value & WorthThursday Matters- April 15, 2021
Everyday Stripped Away There was a time when I went through a place that I call, “a stripping away.” And it was from titles that made me feel important. I chose to step down as an artistic director for a theater company, and a spokesperson for a noble organization but I didn’t realize how important these titles made me feel. In Colossians 3:4 God told me, be content with obscurity, like Christ. I was to be content with being unimportant. When Jesus said, “Become like a “little child,” He meant we’re to be willing to accept ourselves as least in importance. The least is a symbol of those who have the lowest places in society; the poor and the oppressed, the prostitutes, the tax collectors. But Jesus concern was that these should not be despised or treated as inferior (Matthew 18:10). He was well aware of their feelings of shame, and because of their humility and His compassion they were of REALLY great value. God’s grace falls on us not because of our titles in society, but because it’s His good pleasure to love us just as we are…everyday. 4/14/2021
AddictionWednesday Matters- April 14, 2021
Everyday Recovering Addict As a recovering “self-addict” I try and focus on what God needs to change in me rather than asking Him to change everyone else and my circumstances that bother me. Hey this is Debbie Griffith with Everyday Matters. You see the self-involved person is always seeking a way to avoid pain whereas the God involved person embraces pain and they actually go to the Word of God to guide them through life. Instead of becoming bitter they become better. 1 Peter 5:10 really offers us hope and encouragement because it tells us that after we’ve suffered a little while, the God of all grace Who imparts all blessings and favor, Who has called us to His eternal glory will complete and make us what we ought to be. He’ll ground us securely, and strengthen, and settle us. That’s a great promise. And I want it! So ever so slowly I’m able to praise Him in the pain for I know that’s His will for me. There are blessings and favor from Him in our trials…everyday. 4/13/2021
God is GoodTuesday Matters- April 13, 2021
Everyday Just Not Right Okay so you’re talking to a person who says they know and love Jesus. Great. But the more you talk the more you realize that you’re kinda saying the same thing but you’re not. And now I realize that not everyone who agrees Jesus is love understands that He is holy. I’m on the same page as the late pastor and theologian Warren Wiersbe. “False teachers deny the inspiration of the Bible, the sinfulness of man, the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ on the cross, salvation by faith alone, and even the reality of eternal judgment. They deny the deity of Jesus Christ, for they know that if they do away with His deity, they can ignore the entire body of Christian truth. Christianity is Christ, and if He is not who He claims to be, there is no Christian faith.” Christ is our Savior and only through faith in Him can we have eternal life…everyday. 4/12/2021
It Gets Better-HOPEMonday Matters-April 12, 2021
Everyday Life Is Hard Life is hard. An unexpected death of someone you love is hard. Yep. I’m a Christian because I am convinced that only in Jesus Himself is there any adequate, calming useful, clear explanation of any of life’s tragedies. When a friend loses the life of a loved one, what can we offer? I’ve found simply sitting beside them to grieve the loss, the shortness of life or perhaps how it all feels unfair, is best. But surely our Savior has earned the right to say to us, at the open graves of our loves, “Let not your hearts be troubled.” The Savior who has been there and back safely, who died and rose again and now can fully assure us. To say a person died because of some sin in their lives is not only unrealistic, distorted thinking for a Christian, in whom “the light of the world” lives, but is an insult to the forgiving heart of the Father. Love others as He does. Share the hope…everyday. 4/9/2021
God’s Renewing ProcessFriday Matters-April 9, 2021
Everyday New Thing “The Bible never once says; ‘Figure it out.’ But over and over it says, ‘Trust God.’ He’s already got it all figured out.” Oh, but the ache of the wait and then the wonder of but “Why God did this happen?” “Why” will never bring peace but knowing He’s the WAY…will. In Isaiah 43:19; God tells us He’s doing a NEW THING in our lives and then asks us; “Will you trust Me and cooperate with Me no matter how hard it is? WE can release God’s plan for our lives by no longer thinking about the things of old but instead believe that God has a good plan for our future. We need to stop mentally living in the past and begin to think and speak the truth. Then once we do that, we can begin to speak in agreement with Him rather than sharing the negative “what if” thoughts which pop into our heads. God makes a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert as Isaiah 43:19 tells us, He can make a way for you…everyday. 4/8/2021
Loving Difficult PeopleThursday Matters- April 8, 2021
Everyday Love Enemies God will never stop pursing you no matter how far we run and no matter what you do or don’t do. His heart breaks when we choose to do things that hurt ourselves or others. That is why He commands us in Matthew 5:44 to; “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” What? How does that make sense? Well, God created us in His image and we are His children whom He loves so just because someone is your enemy doesn’t mean they’re God’s. They’re His lost child, and He wants them back. Yes, there are circumstances where we’re called to face the bully, the tyrant and say; “No more,” and fight back. But not out of revenge. God is not willing that any be condemned, but that all come to repentance. His great love says; “Confess to me your sins, turn back to Me. Nothing can separate My love from you.” This earth is temporary and heaven is forever. Choose Love, receive love and follow Him…everyday. 4/7/2021
True LoveWednesday Matters- April 7, 2021
Everyday Really Loving Ya know that song that goes; “They will know we are Christians by our love?” We all know people who profess to be Christians, attend church, they know the rules. However, we know an authentic Christian by way they live their lives, by the fruit they bear. God’s not asking us to trust someone who doesn’t take responsibility for their part in a big mess, but He does command us to LOVE “that someone.” In Mark 21:21 God says that we can move mountains by putting our faith in Him. Usually, we talk ABOUT our mountains, but God tells us to talk TO our mountains. Talk to your mountain as an authentic Christian by following Mark 11:25; “Whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive them and let it drop, and your Father will also forgive your failings and let them drop. The Lord God, by the power of the Holy Spirit in you, gives you the grace and strength you need to forgive. Real Christians really love by really forgiving…everyday. 4/6/2021
Forgiven Once and For AllTuesday Matters- April 6, 2021
Everyday Remembering No More Think how amazing it is that God chooses not to remember our sins. He chooses never to bring them up again. Hey this is Debbie Griffith with Everyday Matters. In Isaiah 43:25 God tells us; “I am the One who wipes out your transgressions for My own sake; and I will not remember your sins." When you read Hebrews 11, you see a list of the great men of faith; Abraham, Moses, David, etc. yet none of their sins are listed even though they were sinners. This is because God chooses not to recall the sins that He’s already erased. Now travel to Ephesians 4:32 where Jesus tells us to forgive as the Father has forgiven us. I know…right? That means when we choose to forgive someone we also must choose not to bring up that offense again; to them, others or to ourselves… ever! Probably the hardest thing is to not allow our minds to rehearse the hurt. ONLY through His Holy Spirit strength is this possible…everyday. 4/5/2021
EmpathyMonday Matters-April 5, 2021
Everyday Personal Connection I’ve lost weight and I’m overall toned and fit. I feel healthy too. I’ve no more debt and even an excess of money (after donating to special relief funds) so I was able to buy some adorable new outfits. My marriage is perfectly perfect, and our four sons know exactly God’s call on their lives. Don’t you feel better knowing how great I’m doing? Probably not, so here’s the truth; I can’t fit into my everyday jeans, it’s a hard road getting out of debt, my marriage takes work, and our sons are all in places making decisions about their future. NOW, I bet you feel better because you can probably relate on some level. God’s real and He wants us to keep it real too. Pain is personal and Jesus is personal so sharing our pain is a way to help others know they’re not alone. When we enter into community, we can find the one who needs to know Jesus personally too. Ya know, others may fail you, but Jesus never will. It’s a promise from 1 Corinthians 13…everyday. |
