God’s Crazy LoveWednesday Matters - June 16, 2021
Everyday Spinning in Love God loves us like CRAZY! Zephaniah 3:17 tells us He delights in us with gladness which in the Hebrew gives us the image that He is literally spinning around us in love. Hey this is Debbie Griffith with Everyday Matters. The picture of Him spinning around me in absolute unconditional love…WOW….it is so amazing. Also, from the same verse we know “He rejoices over us with joyful song.” There is nothing we could do that would cause Him to withdraw His love from us. He will never stop loving us and He loves us with all of who He is in so very many ways. God is “in love” because He is the Bride Groom and we are His bride; His church. I know this is especially helpful to women who have never know the unconditional love of a man, be it a father or husband….God is really enough and it’s our maturity and receiving this love that confirms it is true love…everyday. 6/15/2021
Loving ALL PeopleTuesday Matters- June 15, 2021
Everyday Love Enemies God will never stop pursing us no matter how far we run and no matter what we do or don’t do. Hey this is Debbie Griffith with Everyday Matters. He loves us. His heart breaks when we choose to do things that hurt ourselves or others. That is why He commands us in Matthew 5:44 to; “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” What? How does that make sense? Well, God created us in His image and we are His children whom He loves so just because someone is your enemy doesn’t mean they’re God’s. They’re His lost child, and He wants them back. Yes, there are circumstances where we’re called to face the bully, the tyrant and say; “No more,” and fight back. But not out of revenge. God is not willing that any be condemned, but that all come to repentance. His great love says; “Confess to me your sins, turn back to Me. Nothing can separate My love from you.” This earth is temporary and heaven is forever but so is hell. Choose Love, receive love and follow Him…everyday. 6/14/2021
God’s REAL LOVEMonday Matters-June 14, 2021
Everyday In Love I believe God is crazy in love with us because He’s thinking about us all the time and wants nothing but the best for us! Hey this is Debbie Griffith with Everyday Matters. But I had someone write who asked; “Why does using the phrase ‘in love’ when referring to Jesus’ love for us seem a little inappropriate to me? ‘In love’ always makes me think of the kind of infatuation feelings you get in Jr. High or something.” And another friend on Facebook responded; "It's uncomfortable because we only have one word for all three kinds of love which in the Greek is explained clearly; Eros (romantic), Phileos (brotherly love) and Agape (Godly love). God has the purest kind of love for us-Agape. It's interesting too that true love between a husband and wife doesn't really happen if they are stuck in Eros- they have to expand to the other two higher levels to really love each other unconditionally. God doesn’t love us romantically, but He is totally crazy in love with us …everyday. 6/11/2021
Faith in AnxietyFriday Matters-June 11, 2021
Everyday Airport Crabby I was in the airport traveling to speak and I was just so crabby and I felt so negative. What was going on? I began to recite scripture thinking this would help get me out of my muck. Nothing. Then I realized I needed TO APPLY what I knew. I heard Isaiah 32:17; “And the effect of righteousness will be peace--internal and external, and the result of righteousness will be quietness and confident trust forever.” I thought about why I can say; “I am the righteousness of God.” It means I’m in right standing with God but not because of anything I do but because I receive what HE DID for me. Righteousness knows who I am in Christ! So quietly I walked around the airport saying; I’m the daughter of the King. He began a good work in me. I know He’s working all things for the good. He’s planned a wonderful future for me. AFTER I repeated the truth …guess what? I was quiet in my spirit and had peace. Our feelings are indicators but should not be dictators…everyday. 6/10/2021
Sharing Your FaithThursday Matters- June 10, 2021
Everyday Airport Shopping Walking around the airport waiting for my next flight I became anxious and just negative as I thought about the circumstances and people that were making my life unpleasant. Hey this is Debbie Griffith with Everyday Matters. I said some verses but didn’t apply them; all I could think about was the people and circumstances that were making me crazy. So I started thanking God for what I did have, which is my relationship with HIM, and all the things He is in my life. Then I realized I love to shop. What I mean is this; when I’m thinking “It’s all about me,” I’m a mess. But when I think about how much God loves me and how much I love people and sharing God’s love then peace sets in. I went shopping at the airport mall hoping I might connect with someone. I did. It was with Jolene the salesgirl where I bought a really cool scarf. I used my receipt to draw an illustration about Jesus being on the throne in the center in our lives because with Him we have peace and without Him we’re “toast.” It was amazing. God is real….everyday. 6/9/2021
Comforting OthersWednesday Matters- June 9, 2021
Everyday Airport Lady I was in the airport waiting to board yet another plane. It was all taking too long. I sat down and realized the woman next to me was crying and shaking she was so upset. Hey this is Debbie Griffith with Everyday Matters. I didn’t think about it; it was as natural as could be to put my hand on her back and begin rubbing it. I leaned in and asked, “What’s wrong?” The woman replied, “No hablo Ingles.” So I did the other thing that seemed natural, I prayed aloud still rubbing her back while she leaned against my shoulder. I recited the name of Jesus over and over because there’s such power in His name. The woman stopped crying and walked on the plane. A gentleman asked if we wanted to sit together, “Oh,” I said. That’s okay, I don’t know her.” “Oh, I thought Y’all was together?” Nope. The woman departed the plane before I saw her again. This is Jesus. This is 2 Corinthians 1:4, “We can comfort those in distress with the same comfort we have received from God ourselves…everyday. 6/8/2021
Healthy RelationshipsTuesday Matters- June 8, 2021
Everyday The Answer “NO” Relationships mean a lot to me. Theatre was a great degree for me because it’s all about communicating; about relationships. I’ve auditioned for a lot of roles; some I wanted desperately so “no” was hard to hear when someone else was offered the role. It’s also hard to hear “no” from different stations I ask to air my radio feature. Yet, I can accept the “no” answer, even though it may be difficult, BUT what makes it super difficult is when there isn’t a connection made with the person giving the answer. I want to have a positive interaction with the individual regardless of the answer. That’s what healthy relationships are about; understanding and connecting. Rarely can a response make something better but what makes something better is that connection. But no matter what ends up happening; more words to explain or convince the person will not make a difference. What makes a difference is praying for the other…everyday. 6/7/2021
God’s LOVE IS RealMonday Matters-June 7, 2021
Everyday Be Like Jesus "How do we love and accept difficult people?” Someone asked me that question. I know…right? Hey this is Debbie Griffith with Everyday Matters. God loves us ALL and we are all created in His image. The ONLY way to love others genuinely is by the love God gives to us. 2 Peter 1:9 really made me think, “For whomever lacks the genuine quality of love is blind to what they have been given from accepting Christ. Jesus has wiped off, erased from the books, our own sinful lives.” He has cleared us. We’re free. I KNOW it’s hard. You’re hurt. It’s unfair. The “other person” has the problem and not you. BUT love covers. God covers you; He sees and knows all the stuff you shouldn’t have done and the things you should’ve done and He still loves you. THAT IS the kind of crazy love He wants to show you so you can give it to others! He calls us, command us to love and forgive others just like He loves and forgive us…everyday. 6/4/2021
Prodigal ChildFriday Matters-June 4, 2021
Everyday Well Waiting Are you waiting for your child to return, for the reconciliation of one has gone a wrong direction? It’s so hard. I heard from a woman who wrote; “It’s hard to see what the purpose is in my son being estranged from his loving Christian family and the many prayers for our reunion but it never comes.” THAT is so hard. Jesus often asks us to wait at the well for those we love just as He did with the Samaritan woman whose sin was adultery. Jesus didn’t tell the woman she was a sinner only that He knew. He let her eyes be opened as she knew Him more. Silence allows a person to reveal it to themselves and lets us still be accessible when their eyes are opened. He wants to meet us where we’re at and fill the void of thirst. Romans 8:1, “There’s no condemnation with Jesus” but we sure do a good job of it. Go to the well and wait Jesus is there too…everyday. 6/3/2021
BeautyThursday Matters- June 3, 2021
Everyday Looks “Oh sure, you can post photos of me on Facebook but I can always ask you to delete them.” Hey this is Debbie Griffith with Everyday Matters. My friend posted photos from a gathering and after viewing I wrote; “Please delete.” I appreciated that she took them down and didn’t judge me because of it. I KNOW I’m my worst critic and I KNOW that beauty comes from the inside but I also know that it’s okay to care about what we’re communicating with how we look on the outside. Like everything and anything it’s about balance. Our value and worth is not in our outward appearance. Our worth and value is who God says we are and the person that He uniquely created. We are not a mistake and He doesn’t make junk. It’s hard because all of us tend to first judge others by looking at their outsides but what holds our attention is the beauty that’s on the inside. So remember Proverbs 31:30; Charm is deceptive, and beauty doesn’t last; but a woman who fears the LORD will be greatly praised…everyday. |
