Accepting What ISFriday Matters-July 15, 2022
Everyday Coco Change French fashion designer and businesswoman Coco Chanel said, “Don’t spend time beating on a wall, hoping to transform it into a door.” Hey this is Debbie Griffith with Everyday Matters. I don’t know about you but I’ve spent a fair amount of time pounding on a wall hoping for a door to open and circumstances to change. AND YET when I finally surrender, I mean really and not just say it and allow God to work with what He decides is best I have hope. Changes may not come in the way I imagine but it’s God’s best way. Psalm 103:7 is a “go-to” verse for me, “Put your hope in God for with Him is unfailing love and with Him is full redemption.” We can put our hope in other people or circumstances but when we let God have full control He is on the move and knows what’s for our best. Look for the blessing and lesson in all difficult circumstance and people in your life. Try it, you’ll like it…everyday. 7/14/2022
Trials & BlessingsThursday Matters- July 14, 2022
Everyday Poo So this young mom sent me a text which read; “It’s like one minute I’m in college ready to travel the world for Jesus but the next thing you know I’m married with an infant who just took his hand out of his diaper and spread poo all over my shirt.” Hey this is Debbie Griffith with Everyday Matters. I sent a text back to the young mom; “Remember it’s a season you’re in and “this poo will pass.” One thing that helped me as a young mom was to follow Ephesians 5:20 and thank God for what we have even when we don’t feel like it. It helps when I almost get silly and start thanking Him for my toothbrush, my hair, running water, etc. The young mom sent a text back which read; “Okay, I thanked God for the food I’m able to give Jacob so he can poo.” AMEN! Thank God for what you can, count your blessings one by one. Life is hard but this too shall pass…everyday. 7/13/2022
Joy in LifeWednesday Matters- July 13, 2022
Everyday Have Fun Do you wanna have fun? I think most of us do especially when the earth experience is hard. Hey this is Debbie Griffith with Everyday Matters. There are events or responsibilities that we all have that aren’t always pleasant so try to find the fun wherever you are. I kinda have this motto that works, “If it’s not fun, I’m done.” I mean this not as a two year old throwing a tantrum but as an adult who can try to find a person or moment to connect to and discover the lesson, the blessing, THE FUN. God hasn’t called us to hand out a rulebook or a list of “you should” and “you should nots.” God calls us to love others right where there’s at just as He does with us. It’s only by God’s Holy Spirit in us that we can deny the flesh of our own way. Lean into God’s love. Love set us free and draws others to us. Aren’t you ready to be free and have fun? 7/12/2022
Peace with GodTuesday Matters- July 12, 2022
Everyday Flood of Peace Do you feel as if you’re drowning? Hey this is Debbie Griffith with Everyday Matters. Maybe it’s literal in the fact that the city you live in is flooding due to a storm. What do you do? You try and move to solid and higher ground to keep from drowning…right? And there you move with the love and help of God through others so you’re not swept away by the water. Well the same is true for holding unto the peace God gives us and promises in John 14:27, “Peace I give you. Don’t be afraid.” “But it’s flooding,” you cry out. He knows. He’s there. God has peace to give no matter what difficult things flood your life. But we have to choose to receive His peace. Sometimes I have to say aloud; “God I choose to receive the peace you give and not this fear I feel.” God is not surprised in what’s happening. He is always on the move. He is there for you…everyday. 7/11/2022
The Truth of JesusMonday Matters-July 11, 2022
Everyday Jesus Facts In the Bible there was a man named Lazarus who died; that was a fact but when Jesus, who is the Truth, walked up to the tomb and spoke; that truth changed the facts. Hey this is Debbie Griffith with Everyday Matters. Throughout the Gospels we repeatedly read of people who were sick and demon possessed. But when they went Jesus, and He spoke, their facts changed. They were healed, delivered, and set free. We must never magnify the facts of our circumstances above God and the power of His Word. In Isiah 55:11 we see that God’s Word does not return to Him empty but always accomplish its purpose. When we learn to speak God’s Word instead of rehearsing how we’re feeling or our opinions, we are also releasing God’s power. The Word of God spoken in faith, from a believer’s mouth, can change circumstances. It helps if you say the truth aloud, “I am loved, as I am, right now because I am God’s child”…everyday. 7/8/2022
Finding a SpouseFriday Matters-July 8, 2022
Everyday Future Wife I don’t want to be like Rebekah who said to Isaac in Genesis 27:46; “What good will my life be to me if Jacob takes wives such as Esau did with these Hittite women (women who didn’t know the living God)?” Hey this is Debbie Griffith with Everyday Matters. Once my husband Dan began a relationship with Christ, he didn’t see the point in dating so he prayed very specifically to God for a wife. Three years after this prayer, God answered and Dan got me! Because God knew both our hearts, He matched us together perfectly. I know, without a doubt, that the prayers of my great grandfather and other family played a significant part in bringing us together. Dan has always told our sons, “Remember, you marry the inside and not the outside.” When our four sons where young, before school I made it a practice to put my hand on each their heads and pray for their future wives. I wanted them to also have the assurance that God chose someone specifically for them to spend their lives with…everyday. 7/7/2022
Revival Begins in YOUThursday Matters- July 7, 2022
Everyday Change Me Oh that place when you know the only change that will happen is if you God ask to change you. Hey this is Debbie Griffith with Everyday Matters. So crying in the middle of a dark living room I asked God to forgive me, to change and mold and make me to be more like Him. I didn’t ask that He change the other person but instead I knew the only real solution was that my heart be changed. And still you can cry, “It’s not fair,” and God gets it. I often don’t often understand why a particular heartache is happening but it isn’t always for me to understand. Know the answer to the question, “Can God be trusted?” And He can because of His grace and comfort to meet us right where we’re at. Humble yourself by swallowing your own pain and pride and look at James 4:10; “Humble yourselves under God and He will lift you up in due time and then cast all your care upon Him, for He cares for you”...everyday. 7/6/2022
You’re God’s CreationWednesday Matters- July 6, 2022
Everyday New You “Are you kidding? With the kind of history and past you’ve had… well good luck thinking you can overcome it.” That’s hard stuff to swallow because not only is it hurtful but it’s untrue. Hey this is Debbie Griffith with Everyday Matters. Sometimes the voices from our past tell us we’ll never really have a meaningful life because of our mistakes or because of the things that have been done. Listening to those voices are lies. When we accept God in a real and personal relationship He pays the price for our past messes and PROMISES to work ALL things for the good. In the Bible; 2 Corinthians reads that with Christ our old life is gone and a new life begins. We are new creatures in Christ. God is greater than our past. The enemy liar will always try and mess with you. Carry on and know that with Jesus in you there’s power that causes the enemy to shake in his boots. I like to remind this the enemy (and say aloud); “Enemy you’re messin’ with the wrong girl. I’m God’s girl”…everyday. 7/5/2022
Mom BattlesTuesday Matters- July 5, 2022
Everyday The Mom “You stop talking and don’t tell me to stop talking, I’m the mom.” Hey this is Debbie Griffith with Everyday Matters. Perhaps you’ve never entered into the teen zone of angry and angrier but I have. I was there. What’s crazy is that our anger can actually stem from love. We see the bad choices our teen is making and we just want them to stop and listen so we yell and then they yell. It goes from bad to worse. The book of James says; “Be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to become angry because man’s anger doesn’t produce the righteous life God desires.” I like how the message Bible delivers James 1; “Don’t fool yourself into thinking that you’re a listener when you’re anything but, letting the Word go in one ear and out the other. Act on what you hear! For starters it means listenng to Proverbs 14:17; “She who foams up quickly and flies into a passion deals foolishly.” God can take care of you and your teen. Let go, stop yelling and don’t give up…everyday. 7/4/2022
Complete Grace of GodMonday Matters-July 4, 2022
Everyday Good News What’s the message out there? I know…right? That’s a loaded question. There are a lot of messages “out there.” But there’s one message that I’ve become more passionate in sharing lately. Hey this is Debbie Griffith with Everyday Matters. Okay this is IT. The message of Jesus is to LOVE and forgive others, which you can only do once you have seen your bad self and accepted His forgiveness. I have accepted this GIFT even though what I feel and see in me is often wrong, unfair, hurtful, and judgmental and to make it worse, there’s always more where that comes from. But again, that IS why Jesus died for us. He paid MY debt and forgives all my sin. When He died every sin we commit, all future ones, (like tomorrow’s sins) can be forgiven. I think this is why they call the Gospel, Good News which is actually great news. The fresh new hope and grace you can get each day is a gift of never ending love and grace…everyday. |
