Jesus Carries ALL LoadsTuesday Matters- March 17, 2020
Everyday Jesus Shoulders I remember sharing a message with the teen youth group. I chose Isaiah 9:6 which begins; For unto us a Child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder…” And I thought how the government that is upon Jesus’ shoulders is not a political government but really refers to the governing in our lives. We are not supposed to be running our own lives. In fact, we aren’t qualified. I certainly don’t have the brains to know what is best so I’m so super thankful for HIS intervention and His love to guide my life. You see, the more God’s government increases in your life, the more He directs your thoughts, conversations, decision and action, well the more you have peace! You need to be right with God just like I do so we have the peace on what He’s done and not what we’ve done. For me it was all about being on stage as an actress but now I see it’s not about my position or personality but about seeking HIM first where He fills me up with all I need…everyday. 3/16/2020
Love ALLMonday Matters-March 16, 2020
Everyday Love Enemies God will never stop pursing you no matter how far we run and no matter what you do or don’t do. His heart breaks when we choose to do things that hurt ourselves or others. That is why He commands us in Matthew 5:44 to; “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” What? How does that make sense? Well, God created us in His image and we are His children whom He loves so just because someone is your enemy doesn’t mean they’re God’s. They’re His lost child, and He wants them back. Yes, there are circumstances where we’re called to face the bully, the tyrant and say; “No more,” and fight back. But not out of revenge. God is not willing that any be condemned, but that all come to repentance. His great love says; “Confess to me your sins, turn back to Me. Nothing can separate My love from you.” This earth is temporary and heaven is forever. Choose Love, receive love and follow Him…everyday. 3/13/2020
Prayer MattersFriday Matters- March 13, 2020
Everyday Coma Today would have been the 127th day in a row that Robert visited his wife at the hospital as she rested in a coma. But last night Robert had a dream that she died, and he woke up in tears this morning and he couldn’t bring himself to drive to the hospital to see her lying there like that. So he stayed in bed, staring at the ceiling, and thinking of how he was going to have to learn to live without her for the rest of his life. And then my phone rang, and it was her. Hope…it’s the belief that things will get better and that right around the corner there’s something to hold unto so we can move forward. Despair believes that you’re forever stuck and things will never get better. Sometimes we put our “hope” in a box and close it up for fear of being disappointed. Never lose hope. You can actually know that no matter what is happening, God IS with you and in Him there is always hope…everyday. 3/12/2020
God Never ChangesThursday Matters- March 12, 2020
Everyday God Never Changes When you have a relationship with God and you know you’re one of His kids. We can rest and be certain of His faithfulness. In the Bible in 1 Thessalonians 5, hear this; “God, Who calls you, is faithful.” I think the thing that is so amazing and hard for us to wrap our heads around is how much God loves us for who we are and not for where we should be. In religion it’s about what you do and with Jesus it’s about who you are. It’s a relationship with no condemnation and unconditional love. Hey sign me up! There are so many times I have had expectations of someone and then disappointments because they weren’t who I thought or maybe my expectations were unrealistic. BUT GOD is that Friend who is always all-knowing and powerful but also so patient and gracious and at times when I least deserve. God never changes. I may change and so too others in my life but God never does…everyday. 3/11/2020
Be Happy-Serve OthersWednesday Matters- March 11, 2020
Everyday Real People-Real Grace The kingdom belongs to people who aren’t trying to look good or impress anybody, even themselves. When you begin to really understand the grace of God and His purpose for coming to earth to save you, you realize there’s nothing you can do to earn His love. You realize, “you’re not enough” but by His forgiveness and grace you are made worthy and then yes, “you’re enough.” We are all sinners and in desperate need of God and not our good works. Real people with real everyday lives that are often very messy are those who the kingdom of God belongs to. They’re not planning on how they can call attention to themselves, worrying about how their actions will be interpreted or wondering if they will get gold sticker stars for their behavior. Jesus gets us. He loves us and we don’t need to worry about faking it, or trying to pretend that we get it. He loves us and welcomes as we are…everyday. 3/10/2020
Always HopeTuesday Matters- March 10, 2020
Everyday Heartbeat “Today, at 8:00 a.m. this morning, after four months of lifelessness in her hospital bed, we took my mom off life support” said Robyn. “Mom’s heart continued beating on its own and she continued breathing on her own. “And then this evening when we thought we’d be saying goodbye,” continued Robyn, “I squeezed Mom’s hand three times and she squeezed back three times. I can’t believe the miracle of it all.” Wow. That’s the power of prayer, the love of God. We’ve all had times where we’ve given up hope and sometimes it’s even scarier to have it because of the possibility of being so disappointed. But God is living and active NOW so there’s always reason to hope even when we can’t see or feel it. God also gives us grace in our day to day moments and promises that something good will come out of something bad when we trust Him. It doesn’t matter how many times we cry out to God, He’s always there, ready to meet us where we are at… everyday. 3/9/2020
Faith is not a FeelingMonday Matters-March 9, 2020
Everyday Step In Trusting God over what I feel is always a challenge. “I feel afraid” is a real feeling but you can’t always trust your feelings. Joshua led the people of Israel to the Promised Land and even though it was flood season he told the priests to take the Ark of the Covenant and go right into the middle of the river. Because of their faith they trusted God and stepped in. Joshua 3:17 states; “All Israel passed through until the whole nation had completed the crossing on dry ground.” I would’ve first wanted to test the water with my big toe to see some evidence of God’s promise. I would’ve wanted to see the water go down before I stepped into the middle of the river. But often God provides no solution to our problems until we trust Him and move ahead with what we know we should do. Step forward into the unknown by God’s leading because it’s an opportunity for you to know Him better. Walk in faith and not your feelings...everyday. 3/6/2020
There is ALWAYS HOPEFriday Matters- March 6, 2020
Everyday Hope: It Gets Better When God speaks He is full of love and truth, but when the devil speaks he speaks lies and offers counterfeit love. Life is already full of challenges and listening to the enemy’s lies makes it a zillion times harder. On darker days remember this, “The enemy knows your name, but calls you by your sin. Jesus knows your sin, but calls you by your name.” In the Book of Revelation you can read of God’s power and authority and also read how the devil, the prince of this world is continually bringing accusations against us. BUT when you accept the sacrifice of Christ on the cross ALL your sins are forgiven and His grace is continual. You have the hope of heaven where you’ll be fully restored with continued purpose. Being “born again” is a term I don’t hear much anymore, but it means being made new with an implant of hope. It’s a place the enemy will no longer have access to us …everyday. 3/5/2020
Shrug of the HateThursday Matters- March 5, 2020
Everyday Oh, You Again “If God has such great plans for me why is it they all seem to be falling apart?” Everyone seems against me. Some talk about a devil but is he even real? Does he have horns and carry a pitchfork? Yep, the devil is real. He’s not a Halloween costume and he has plans to destroy the ones God has. Face the fact that there’s an enemy who’ll never leave us alone but we don’t have to let him bother us. “Oh, it’s you again,” I’ve said, rather than caving into the temptation to give up. Satan throws garbage lies at us because it's the way he is able to hurt God. When someone attacks your kids you take action to protect them because you’re on their side. God is on our side too. We are created in His image. “Be bold,” I told my son, David. “You can be aware of the devil but you don’t have to let him get to you.” We have redemption through Christ and nothing that’s happened to us is so destructive that God can’t redeem it…everyday. 3/4/2020
Be Aware of EvilWednesday Matters- March 4, 2020
Everyday Enemy Alert There’s evil in the world but often we don’t really think it’s something we have to be mindful of in our everyday lives. Oh but we do. The Garden of Eden was a perfect paradise God created for Adam and Eve until Satan got them to doubt and distrust God. The devil is still on the move working because he knows that the only way he can overcome a believer is through deception and intimidation. In the Bible in 1 Peter we’re told to be alert because the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he will devour. Notice the verse doesn’t say “irritate” or “frustrate” but “DEVOUR!” A lion often scares up its dinner by roaring. Its prey freezes in fear simply due to the lion’s fierce roar thus becoming an easy meal for Mr. or Mrs. Lion. That is what we face. God is the king. The devil is an imposter. We have the power from God to tell him to get out of our face…everyday. |
