Relationship of LoveWednesday Matters- October 4, 2023
Everyday Rule Book I am thankful for God’s call on my life to love others. He hasn’t called me to hand out a rulebook or a list of “you should” and “you should nots,” which means He hasn’t called on me to point out the sins of others. He knows I have enough of my own stuff to cleanup, and with His grace, how can I afford not to extend this gift to others? I love people. I want to have fun, be real, love God and love others. But it’s also important to note that at no point does God not stop being holy. Out of His great holiness and power and might and mercy, do we then deny our own sinful desires and bow to Him. Our flesh wants what it wants and more of it. So it’s only by God’s Holy Spirit in us that we can deny the flesh. I know the message of “sin is not in” and love always wins, but true love involves compassion with truth…everyday. 9/27/2023
Jesus Loves YouWednesday Matters- September 27, 2023
Everyday Jesus Love God is Love so when people see real love, they see God. Jesus tells us in John 13:35 that others will know we are His by how we love one another. Hey this is Debbie Griffith with Everyday Matters. I was encouraged to read this letter from a listener; “I got to be a blessing to a sweet, elderly gentleman today. I was putting my groceries into my vehicle when this gentleman pulled up alongside my van. He started talking to me, so I took the time to stand there and talk with him. His wife passed away two years ago so I figured he must be lonely. When we finished talking, I felt the Lord leading me to pray so I did. It was such a blessing for us both. We both had tears in our eyes and when he pulled away, he said “You made my day. I’m glad I heard God because many times out of fear I don’t listen.” The real power of love is seen in how we treat one another. Love is a choice, and it always gives…everyday. 9/20/2023
God’s PresenceWednesday Matters- September 20, 2023
Everyday God in Us I shared on my Facebook page all the things love is according to 1 Corinthians 13 and then ended with; “Let God’s love live in you!” Someone made the comment; “So, then god is in all of us? Hey this is Debbie Griffith with Everyday Matters. I responded by sharing 1 John 3:24; “And God has given us His Spirit as proof that we live in Him and He in us.” But we first must invite God into our lives in order for Him to make His home in us.” God is love, kind, patient, not boastful and doesn’t keep a record of wrongs. God is perfect and we are not. There are many times I’m jealous, rude, and I keep a record of wrongs done to me. But, by inviting God into my life and receiving His forgiveness I’m free to love as God does! When you’re conscious of God’s love all the time you can trust Him and say, “I KNOW how much He loves me. I put my trust in His love and I can walk in love…everyday!” 9/13/2023
Kindness to OthersWednesday Matters- September 13, 2023
Everyday Treatment of Others How I treat my family and others from day to day, and how I react to others struggling in life with addiction, or whatever the challenging situation is and who can’t seem to get their act together, says a lot about who I am. Hey this is Debbie Griffith with Everyday Matters. How I respond to difficult people and how I deal with the frustrations of everyday life will speak the truth of who I am more clearly than a positive social media post. We’re not here in life for ourselves but to live in hope and love others. The healing touch for us is most often to touch the hand of another who needs love and support. Because the fact is, we all need real love, and real acceptance. Jesus tells us in Ephesians 5:15-16; “Make the most your time on earth with taking advantage of each opportunity and using wisdom because the days are filled with evil. God is real, He is love and He is good. Proclaim His love by the way you live and treat others…everyday. 9/6/2023
Like A Sweet PerfumeWednesday Matters- September 6, 2023
Everyday Mouth Victory Can I have real victory over the enemy in my life and especially with relationships unless I am in touch with God on a daily basis? I think not. Hey this is Debbie Griffith with Everyday Matters. And often what brings me defeat is when I open my mouth and express all my thoughts and feelings without checking in with God first. I need Him to help me sort out and filter my thoughts and emotions so that when I do speak Psalm 19:14 rings true, “that the words of my mouth and the thoughts of my heart are pleasing to God and everyone else around me.” When I wait on God for His wisdom, on how and when I should speak, that’s when I really do experience victory which means peace for everyone involved. When we’ve been captured by His love and received His wisdom He leads and uses us to spread the knowledge of Him everywhere, like a sweet perfume” (it reads in 2 Corinthians 2:14) and often we need never open our mouths in many situations we want to…everyday. 8/30/2023
Truth SpeakersWednesday Matters- August 30, 2023
Everyday What Do You Say Debbie, what do you say to parents that are losing their little 16th month old boy to cancer? The parents are Christian but can’t understand why God won’t heal their baby? Can you help me with an answer? Nothing you say will make them feel like it’s fair. The best thing to say is; "I don't know why this is happening. I hate that it's happening and that you’re hurting. But, I am not God and I don't know why He has allowed this. You’re right that it isn't fair. Why doesn’t God fix the pain? He's a big God...tell Him how you feel. It won't stop for a moment His great love toward you. We want to fix the hurt for our friend or want God to fix it. Don’t try to speak for God. Job’s friends tried that and it did not go well for them. Take your friend out, listen to them cry or just sit beside them and say nothing. Even Jesus wept when He went to the grave of Lazarus. Just let them know you are there and you care…everyday. 8/23/2023
Where Is God?Wednesday Matters- August 23, 2023
Everyday Real Life In one simple month all of life seemed to fall apart. Brandon had lost his job, the family’s golden retriever had died and Brandon’s wife was back at the clinic again to try new antibiotics to combat her bronchitis. God where are you? If He loves us won’t He take the pain away or at least some of it? Remember God is always with us and He isn’t surprised by what’s happening. Everything must pass through His hands first. Sometimes a tragedy is where we meet God for the first time. We must lose religion, where it’s all about rules and proving ourselves, and instead rest in a personal relationship with God who knows exactly what we’re going through and how to take care us. Jesus working through us and not focusing on our own works or man’s laws is what’s important. God always loves us. He will not fail us. Grasp hold of His grace and mercy with both hands to find hope…everyday. 8/16/2023
God SpeaksWednesday Matters- August 16, 2023
Everyday God Speaking Are you listening? Jesus is speaking. Hear His voice; “You are forgiven. Today is a new day. God’s Word from Lamentations 3:23: “Great is My mercy. It’s new every morning and great is My faithfulness. Everyday I try to “be better” by choosing what I should think on and how I should behave which often means I remain silent, shut my mouth and pray. Just think of the amazing gift God offers us! We have an opportunity to receive God’s forgiveness which means our soiled sin rags are washed and made t white by the blood of the Lamb.” (Revelation 7:14) Don’t be discouraged. There’s a whole lot of us who so wanted to be faithful, but who at times got defeated, beat-up by life and tested by trials. We have the bloodied garments of life’s tribulations, but through it all we clung to the faith. This is the Gospel of Grace. So with me, let’s celebrate. Let’s raise “a glass of hope,” receive and share this love and grace with others. Carry on Christian Soldiers, onward and upward…everyday. 8/9/2023
Follow JesusWednesday Matters- August 9, 2023
Everyday Why Follow? Let me tell ya I don’t follow Jesus because He was a good person prophet-man. I follow Him because He IS alive in my life. He’s God. God who became a man, who died for all my garbage sins and then rose again so I could have an excellent LIFE here on earth and then a perfect forever one in heaven! All we have to do is accept God’s great gift, accept HIM and we’re free. Now of course just because there’s freedom in Jesus doesn’t mean there’s freedom from problems. But after Jesus ascended into heaven He gave us the Holy Spirit, who is there to help us with everything. The reason I know this truth is because I have a relationship with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. I follow Him because I trust Him and not because I always feel or understand Him or the Bible. But I trust He wants what’s best for us. Jesus did not come for us to follow religion. John 8:32; Knowing Jesus will set you free…everyday. 8/2/2023
Hope AheadWednesday Matters- August 2, 2023
Everyday Narnia Do you know how exciting it is to finally realize that this life on earth is just a shadow of the life and adventure that is yet to come? In the book, The Last Battle which is the final book in the Narnian Chronicles by C.S. Lewis, he paints a picture of heaven which makes me get why in 2 Corinthians 5; we should all be groaning and longing to be living in our heavenly dwelling. On the last page of this final book it reads, “And for us this is the end of all the stories, and we can most truly say that they all lived happily ever after. But for them it was only the beginning of the real story. All their life in this world and all their adventures in Narnia had only been the cover and the title page: now at last they were beginning Chapter One of the Great Story, which no one on earth has read: which goes on forever: in which every chapter is better than the one before.” Oh my, sign me up for this…everyday! |
