Everyday Umpire of Peace

​The umpire in a ball game decides if a player is “in” or “out,” right? Hey this is Debbie Griffith with Everyday Matters. Colossians 3:15 talks about the “Umpire of Peace” in our hearts. Listen. “Let the peace from Christ act as umpire in your hearts deciding and settling all questions that come into your mind.”  Peace is to be the umpire that decides if something in our lives should be in or out!  

But how often do any of us let peace in our hearts from God make our decision rather than trusting on what we feel?  “Do you think I should take this additional job?” was the question asked to me by a young mom because the family was struggling financially, but the long hours would definitely affect her being able to “mother.” My first thought was, “Yes, she could manage it.” I prayed for the Umpire of Peace to direct this young mom. Guess what? Rhonda refused the job because she did not have peace about working outside the home AND help came in a way she never expected. Seek God’s peace everyday.
